Features of a CHP Plant
CHP is one of the most popular energy source alternatives due to its significantly low carbon emission, efficient power production, and increased reliability. However, it is a significant investment that pays back within a few years of its setup. Here, we have a few of the essential features of the CHP plant to gauge its efficiency and longevity.
Total Expenditure:The Cost
The cost of the project can be divided into two categories:
- Installation cost
- Maintenance and operation cost
The installation cost includes the price of machinery, fuel, materials, labor, engineering and project management and construction whereas O&M include charges of routine inspections, maintenance of components and operational labor. Overall, the steam turbine seems to be the most cost-efficient solution with gas turbines following the suit. However, CHP setups based on fuel cells tend to be the most expensive one.
